Parameters extraction for PV generator and estimation of the maximum power point
ABSTRACT:
The productivity of a photovoltaic system depends mainly on temperature and illumination. Correct sizing of the PV system is essential to maximize energy delivery. Manufacturer data alone are insufficient for accurate modeling, necessitating determination of unknown parameters to predict the PV generator’s performance under local climatic conditions. This work presents the operating principle of a photovoltaic cell, an equivalent electrical model, and the extraction of parameters involved in the mathematical description of the PV module’s characteristics. The simulation of the PV generator performance illustrates the effect of climate variation on energy production through representative graphs.
